10 Things I Noticed While in Bergen, Norway
10 Things that stood out to me the most, while visiting Bergen, Norway for 10 days.
1. Tap water - You can drink the tap water (unlike the USA) and it's actually FRESH! It takes like pure mountain water, so delicious and doesn't taste like chemicals.
2. Bathroom stalls really are completely closed off, unlike the USA, where the doors have large openings in them.
3. Less make up - The women seemed to wear MUCH less make up, than women in the USA. In fact, it seemed more common to see a woman with no make up at all, the someone with caked on make up. They feel very confident in their own skin!
4. Everyone is very fit. Literally did not see a single person who appeared to be overweight. (Although the countless steps to get anywhere, and mountains and hills to walk...make me understand why!)
5. Leggings are a normal, everyday clothing item...for men and women! (I felt so at home).
6. Everyone seemed to speak 3 or more languages. One girl at an ice cream shop, spoke 5 languages, in the short time we were standing in line....! (Makes is American's look like sh*t...we need to up our education....like seriously)
7. Kids menus at restaurants had math problems and mathematical games, instead of mind-less or simple things that we tend to have on kids menus, here in the USA.
8. Non smokers - In the 10 days I was in Norway, I saw 3 smokers....and they seemed to be American.
Norwegians seems to over all be really conscious about their health!
9. Vikings were NOT the main "attraction" of Norway....Trolls and Moose are! In fact, Vikings are not even depicted accurately in almost all of the local shops. They are shown with the "devil horn" helmets...which is not an accurate thing they ever wore. The only place I seemed to find accurate Viking stuff, was in the town of Gudvangen (Viking Valley).
10. The bus system is commonly used by everyone! Unlike the USA (in most places), where the bus system is typically a not clean, safe, or happy thing to go on. In Norway, it was very clean, and safe. It was common to see a bus full of backpackers, business men/women, families, etc.
